Racing
The club selects a race team each year for those who have aspirations of representing their university at both state and national levels. You need never have raced before; you just have to want to do it. So let us know and we can put you at the starting gates.
Supporters and partiers are most encouraged to join us too! Support crew is needed to get the other teams blind drunk of a night so they cant race the next day! The Australian University Games on the snow is definitely a wild week, not to be missed, just ask those members who have been a part of it! In 2001 UTS was ranked the #2 university in Australia, and in 2005 we came 3rd. I think 2nd was better, so why not come along and help us turn that around?
Last year at Perisher the men's team came first, UTS came 3rd overall, and most importantly won what we consider one of the greatest honours, 'Spirit of the Mountain' for good sportsmanship.
There is always heaps of talent on and off the slopes at the games, so make it a priority to be there and race for your uni!
Events which are contested are:
Mens/Womens Skiing:
- Slalom
- Giant Slalom
- Super G
Mens/Womens Snowboarding:
- Parallel Giant Slalom
- Boarder Cross
- Half Pipe
- Rails
Freestyle:
- Half Pipe
- Moguls
- Skier Cross
- Rails
And for some unknown reason, they have added this event known only as cross-country. If you are an experienced Yoghurt eater, we would love you to come along and race. It is offered in both the individual and the Relay. So far we have been a little light on for Cross Country Skiers. If you are interested, please let us know.
For further information on the event and what it will entail... either check back here closer to the date or visit the University Sport Web Page:
